Photo archive
Tools for a photo library you exported: put the dates back, see what the files carry, convert what will not open.
A Google Photos Takeout gives every photo back, but for many of them the date taken sits in a separate JSON file, so the next app files them under the day you downloaded the archive. The Google Takeout Fixer writes those dates back into the photos and videos, in your browser. The other tools here cover what comes after: taking the location out before you share a photo, and turning iPhone HEIC files into JPGs for apps that cannot open them.

- Your Takeout photos show the wrong date
- The Google Takeout Fixer pairs every photo and video with its JSON file and writes the date taken with its time-zone offset into JPEGs, plus the GPS position when a photo has none, and the creation time into MP4 and MOV videos. Scanning and the preview are free.
- You are about to share some of them
- The EXIF Remover shows what a JPEG carries (GPS position, camera, timestamps, software) and removes it, for one photo or a batch.
- You know where the photos are going
- Apple Photos, Immich, Synology Photos, OneDrive, Nextcloud and a plain external drive each read dates a little differently. The pages below give the import steps and the pitfalls for each one.
