Excel Splitter: Split Large Excel Files Online

A sheet with a hundred thousand orders is hard to send, hard to open on a laptop and impossible to hand to five people who each need only their part. Pick the workbook, choose how to cut it, and download the pieces: a fixed number of rows per file, a number of equal files, one file for every value of a column (one per region, dealer, salesperson or month), or every sheet of the workbook as its own file.

Each part is a real Excel workbook, not a text export. Cells are copied as they are, so numbers stay numbers, dates stay dates and number formats such as currency, percentages and thousands separators come along, together with the column widths. The header row is repeated at the top of every file. Formulas are saved with their results, because a formula that points at rows now living in another file would be wrong; colours, merged cells and charts are not carried over. If you would rather have CSV, the parts can be written as CSV with semicolons for Turkish and European Excel, or with commas.

Everything happens in your browser. The workbook is opened and split on your own device, in a background worker that keeps the page responsive; nothing is uploaded, so a confidential price list or customer sheet stays on your computer. Before splitting you see the sheets, their row counts and a preview of the first rows; after, the list of files with their rows and sizes. Download them one by one or together as a ZIP.

Workbooks up to 100 MB are accepted (.xlsx, .xlsm, .xls and .ods); for bigger data, save it as CSV and use the CSV Splitter, which takes up to 1 GB. One file up to 50 MB a day is free; a credit pack, a 24-hour pass or a subscription covers the rest, shared with the other tools on the site.
